Inside The L.A.B.

Four things the lights find that daylight hides.

The L.A.B. stands for The Detailing Learning and Application Building. It runs specialized lighting and paint inspection equipment, because most of what is wrong with a finish is invisible in a driveway at noon.

Caused by washing

Swirl marks

Fine circular scratches, worst on dark paint in direct sun. Most owners stopped seeing them years ago, until somebody puts a light on the panel.

Caused by a bad polish

Holograms

Buffer trails from a polish done too fast or with the wrong pad. They look like streaks that shift as you walk past the car.

Caused by rain

Water spots

Mineral rings left when rain or sprinkler water dries on a hot panel. Catch them early and they polish out. Leave them a summer and they etch in.

Caused by sun

Oxidation

The chalky, faded look sun puts into older paint and bare trim. Polishing takes the dead layer off. Protection is what keeps it off.

35 years, still training

Edward does the work himself.

WetWheels is one person. 35 years of hands on detailing, the last 15 spent on the professional side of it.

He has kept training with some of the better known names in the trade, Meguiar's, Mothers, P & S Detail Products and Koch-Chemie. Not for the website. It is the difference between knowing a soft clear coat from a hard one and finding out the expensive way.

Whoever quotes your car is the person who details it. Daily driver, lifted truck, classic, something still under warranty: same attention, and nobody gets the rushed version because they booked the cheap package.

How it goes

Four steps, and no mystery packages.

01

Tell him the car

Year, make, model, how it gets used, and what bothers you most about it. That is enough to know which service is right.

02

Get a real number

Your tier price plus anything the condition actually calls for, agreed before work starts. Nothing shows up afterward.

03

The work happens

In your driveway, or at The L.A.B. when the job needs the lights. Full process either way, not a shortened one.

04

You see it

Edward walks you round it and tells you how to keep it that way, including which car washes to stay out of.

Before you call

Straight answers.

How much does mobile detailing cost in Vancouver, WA?

Express Detail starts at $160 for a sedan, Interior at $249, Exterior at $299, and the Premium Mobile Detail at $425. SUVs and trucks sit in their own tiers. Headlight restoration is $125. Paint correction and ceramic coating get quoted once Edward has seen the paint.

Do you come to me, or do I drop the car off?

Either. Every package on the menu is mobile, so the usual arrangement is Edward comes to your house or your workplace anywhere in the Clark County service area. Correction and coating work often goes better at The L.A.B., where the lighting and the paint inspection gear live.

What areas do you cover?

Vancouver, Salmon Creek, Hazel Dell, Orchards, Camas, Washougal, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Felida, Brush Prairie and La Center, plus the rest of Clark County. Just outside that, call and ask.

What is The L.A.B.?

The Detailing Learning and Application Building. It is the WetWheels workspace, set up with specialized lighting and paint inspection equipment that shows up defects you cannot see in daylight. Correction and coating work happens there.

How often should I get the car detailed?

In this climate, an Express Detail every two to three months keeps paint ahead of the road film, with a full interior or exterior once or twice a year. A coated car needs less, because the coating is doing what a wax would keep needing redone.

Do you do trucks and lifted vehicles?

Yes. Trucks, vans and seven seat vehicles are priced in their own tier because there is more vehicle to work on. Size and condition both go into the number, and you get it before anything starts.
